  1. Hey Perry, I’m enjoying your blog. I was wondering if you have any more information on USB3 with Mountain Lion. I have a 2012 Retina Macbook Pro and I too have issues with my Western Digital passport USB3 hard drive ejecting. It works flawlessly on the left port but on the right port it can work for hours without a hiccup but other times it will get randomly ejected with in minutes.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Hi James. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Unfortunately I do not have much more information, other than that I continue to use the MediaSonic hard drive enclosure using the right-side USB 3.0 port of my MacBook Air. So far it is working great (though very recently, I’ve started getting “-50 error” messages, which means I need to eject the drive(s) affected and re-mount using Disk Utility. I suspect this may have something to do with the latest Mountain Lion update, as it only started happening directly after updating to the latest 10.8.5 update. I’m looking forward to testing Mavericks to see if the issue is fixed, and if USB 3.0 support becomes more robust overall.
